Gaming News: Grand Theft Auto 5 Actor Ned Luke Suspected of Swatting While Streaming
Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 actor Ned Luke experienced swatting while streaming the game on Thursday. During his live chat, Luke received a seemingly unassuming phone call which quickly changed his demeanor.
The Call
Luke asked, “They what?” to which someone on the phone replied with, “Swat your house.” Impressed by their tenacity, Luke responded with an “Oh, nice…nice.”
The Stream Ends
Concerned for his safety and that of his family, Luke abruptly ended the stream after an hour, informing his chat, “Now these assholes have swatted my house, so I’ve got to go.”
Luckily No Harm Done
Thankfully, it appears that the worst did not happen during this incident. Luke clarified in an interview that his swatting had nothing to do with Rockstar’s protection of players in the game. He also suggested that this was not the first time he has dealt with swatting over the years.
No Connection to Rockstar
Luke stated, “This had nothing to do with Rockstar. These assholes leaked my private info years ago and have been doing this shit since. Anyone’s info is available online if you are sick enough to really wanna find it.”
The Continued Problem
Despite being illegal in most places in the United States, swatting isn’t classified as a federal felony. Some states are pushing for stricter laws due to it continuing to happen not only to streamers but also schools and hospitals.
